About Emma

Thanks for visiting mcardlephoto.com

A little about me. I’m from Portmarnock, Co. Dublin. My main passion and occupation involves working as a Mental Health Nurse and I love the work that I do. I’ve always enjoyed capturing moments in pictures but it wasn’t until 2012 that I invested in my first DSLR camera, a Canon EOS600D. I began taking photos more frequently and started to learn more about the technical principles of photography. Since 2012, my love for photography has grown, in particular, capturing Ireland’s landscapes and my travels. Ireland has such a wide variety of landscapes and exploring its treasures never gets old. One of my favourite things to do is pack up the camera and head for the beautiful hills of County Wicklow, where it's guaranteed to be amazing conditions for photography, no matter what the weather. ‘Four seasons in one day’ as they say. For such a small Island, Ireland has so much to offer. From varied landscapes, curious wildlife, historic monuments and changeable weather, we are lucky to have such a diverse range of subjects to photograph.

Put simply, I’m proud of Ireland's heritage, culture, our people and our landscape. My mission is to show others this beautiful little Island we live on. I’m currently using a Nikon D810 and every day I strive to improve my skills and better my technical competencies as a photographer. Photographers are always learning.

In addition to landscape photography, I love photographing pets with their owners. Undoubtedly, they are part of the family and it’s fascinating to see the strength of the bond owners can have with their animals.

I’ve worked with Tourism Ireland over the years on numerous commissioned shoots/videography and have recently started working with new artists, shooting for their single/album covers and social channels which i’m really enjoying. When shooting people, I like to get to know the person, hear their story and ensure the shoot is as natural as possible. I don’t enjoy fake set ups. I love capturing natural moments.

I hope you enjoy browsing my images. Feel free to contact me with any questions or enquiries. I can also provide assistance if you need a print in a size not specified on the website. If you have a specific image/images in mind that you’d like, get in touch and i’ll try my best to capture it for you.

Thanks for visiting.
